Prison Chaplain Update: Joyful Worship, 30 Baptisms, and Staff Encouragement

As you walk into a worship service at SBCC, it’s easy to forget you are in prison. You are immediately surprised by the warm, friendly congregation and how much the worship service feels like your own church service.  We have a worship team/band and uplifting sermons. Over 30 men were recently baptized!   Sometimes I’m asked, “why do prison ministry, and Pastor a church?” Hebrews 13:3 is my answer: “Continue to

GraceInside chaplains gather for training and fellowship at annual retreat

The Gift of a Food Tray Leads an Inmate to the Light of Christ

by Chaplain Darrell Hunley, Pocahontas State Correctional Center Today I was working in my office in the prison when my inmate clerk jumped up and excitedly ran into the hallway. He had just seen an old friend. The two men had huge smiles on their faces, and they hugged each other like they were long lost brothers. After they said a few quick words and waved goodbye, my inmate clerk came back into my office and sat back down in
